Former Ipswich Town left back Jamie Clapham has joined Southend United on trial. The Shrimpers are currently without a senior left back following the departures of Che Wilson and Charlie Mulgrew, and have taken the 32-year-old Clapham on trial following his release from Leicester City.
Transfer-listed striker Charlie MacDonald has finally completed his protracted move to League Two outfit Brentford. The 27-year-old moves to Griffin Park on a two-year deal after a disappointing season with Southend in which he failed to hold down a regular first team place.
Southend boss Steve Tilson has confirmed his interest in Bristol City defender Richard Keogh in today's Southend Echo. Keogh, a 21-year-old centre half, was born in Harlow and spent time on loan with Cheltenham and Carlisle United last season.
